Retail trading is the loco of the market

Interview with Vladimir Landau, the general manager of the "POSITRONIKA" managing company.

- What losses were incurred by the Russian IT-market in 2009?

- The market has been left by several appreciable retail players, both experts, and wide-profile operators of home appliances and electronics: "Startmaster", "Formosa", "Mir", "Expert". The number of shops " Eldorado ", "Technosila", "Polyaris" have decreased the number of shops, some shops have been closed by the "White wind ".

- In what way has the structure of the market changed?

- To my opinion there has not happened the drama change of structure of the market, there more likely was a redistribution of buyers from left players to the rest.

- In what way did the consumer change?

- The consumer became more accurate, more thoughtful and more selective. He started to spend more time for preparation for purchase, and his awareness increased. By preparation for purchase buyers began to use Internet more actively.

- With what mood did you spend the year of 2009? What was the outcome of the last year for your company?

- The last year the network managed to break stagnation, and we have started to develop quickly. In a heat of crisis the number of shops of a network did not exceed 150, at the end of year the network has consisted of more than 170 shops. As a whole we have the fighting mood, we live during the era of new opportunities and we plan to use them actively.

- What expectations do you have for the first half of 2010?

- First half of 2010 will allow to prepare jumping-off ground for the further expansion of a network. These expectations are quite justified.

- What are your plans for 2010?

- Our 2010 financial year started in 2 quarter of 2010, and we plan to increase a network by 100 shops and practically to double its circulation.

- What will 2010 be like  for the Russian IT-market?

- The market will live in parameters between 2007 and 2008 years, and by the end of 2010 year, probably, will steal up to parameters which were planned for 2008 year and will execute plans which crisis has not allowed to realize.

- What will drivers of growth be like? What segments of the IT-market will develop most dynamically?

- Retail is the locomotive of the market, it will develop together with waking up demand. Probably, we shall become witnesses of interesting experiments with formats of retail trade, and I expect, that boom of mobile technologies in retail shall come to us at last.
